Northern Prince |
The Northern Prince was one of four of a class of passenger mail ships built in 1929 at Lithgows in Glasgow. This original builders yard model outlived the full size vessel` s by some twenty years, two were sunk during WW2, the remaining two broken up in 1952 and 1971. The model was 12`0 (3.6m) in length and stood from keel to masthead 30 (800mm) high.She was solid timber, had badly rotted decks, extensive water and dust staining, a number of broken derricks and masts, handfuls of missing parts and had, in the past been restored or repaired several times with varying results.
